With the inspiration from 1960s worldwide countercultural phenomenon, I see counterculture as a positive catalyst of social evolution, because it always provides people with an alternative perspective towards social reality.

Liquid Society tells stories about various counterculture phenomena from the 1960s to 1970s, 1980s to 1990s, and 00s to the future. Inspired by A Thousand Years Of Nonlinear History by Manuel DeLanda, I decided to utilize materials as metaphors for social change in different time stages. I applied three phases of water, liquid, vapor, and solid to describe how society evolves and changes, and the catalysis counterculture functions in this process. I also designed a series of modular typefaces as a graphic element related to phases change. The entire book is narrated in chronological order at a gentle pace.
